Divorce mediation is about bringing couples together to talk about the dispute and how to resolve it amicably and without the need to litigate each and every issue of a divorce proceeding. Mediation makes sense. After all, it is you and your partner who knows the most about your issues and how best to resolve them. Much more so then a judge who knows nothing about you, your partner, your children and your life style.
Divorce is not easy. It is sometimes traumatizing, emotional and the financial costs can be overwhelming. Most people have never been in a court room and they have never dealt with any legal proceeding which can be bewildering.
With Lois Iannone Law, we can eliminate many of the challenges that face divorcing couples such as separating process, parenting issues and the financial aspects of a divorce.
As a family Court mediator, Lois Iannone will meet you and your spouse or co-parent in a safe and comfortable environment. She will assist and guide both parties in considering each of the issues the family court requires you to resolve. Some of the issues are custody, child support, visitation, pensions, bank accounts, retirement accounts and alimony.
The mediation approach to a divorce is entirely different from litigating a divorce. It is cost effective and the parties come to a mutually agreed upon decision as to the issues in their unique case.
There are some other differences in mediation than litigation:
- Your discussions are confidential
- The environment is comfortable and informal
- The mediation preserves control over your individual and family’s goals and future
- The process is not adversial
- All the issues are determined by you and your spouse without the control of judges or lawyers.
